Prolific and highly-successful small-press poet, a native of Peterborough, whose work has been printed for over twenty-five years. He has performed at events across the UK, and is also a member of the band, The Sonic Energy Authority. Amongst all the many places his work has appeared, he has contributed to Cyaegha.

Residencies and AwardsEdit

  • Fifth Poet Laureate of Peterborough (2003).
  • Poet-in-Residence for Broadway Cemetery, Peterborough (2005-08).
  • Featured in the Times Magazine (Saturday Supplement) as part of his Cemetery residency.
  • John Clare Trust Poetry Prize Winner (2009).
  • Commissioned to produce an original poetry act (Riders of the Purple Sage and Onion Stuffing) for the Peterborough Summer Festival (2011).
  • Poet-in-Residence for St. John the Baptist church, Peterborough (2012).

Data Dump AwardEdit

Cardinal Cox is the star poet of the Data Dump Awards having had the most poems long-listed, short-listed and placed of all the poets to be honoured. He was :

  • Placed joingt-second in 2015.
  • Placed joint-third in 2012.
  • Placed joint-second in 2011.
  • Placed joint-first in 2010.
  • Placed joint-second in 2008 and was also long-listed for Carcosa Rising.

Although very much a real person (if not a genuine cardinal of the Catholic Church), the Cardinal and his band, The Sonic Energy Authority, have appeared in the novels of Robert Rankin (namely, The Suburban Book of the Dead, The Brentford Chainstore Massacre, Nostradamus Ate My Hamster, Raiders of the Lost Car Park, The Most Amazing Man Who Ever Lived, Sprout Mask Replica and Apocalypso); Peter F.
