A 'verse is a setting shared by multiple stories, which may be linked by characters, items or references to events in other stories. Lovecraftian Horror could be classed as a shared 'verse, although many stories listed there are not overtly related. Some of these verses are interlinked (see Crossovers for the main examples) - two-thirds if you count minor and spoof references.
